Q: Why should I buy from The Old World Wine Agency instead of LCBO?

A: Despite the fact that occasionally a few of our wines are available through the LCBO Vintages program; the majority of our wines are exclusive to us and not available anywhere else in Ontario. If you only relying on LCBO selection you are missing the vast majority of unique and fine wines being imported into the province.

These wines never appear in the stores and are sold by the agents to their customers. Many of these wines are sold to restaurants and wine bars, but there is nothing preventing consumers from also enjoying them at home.

Q: Can I try the wines before I place an order?

A: The Old World Wine Agency participates in local tasting events, some of these are trade-only events, but there are a number of shows that are open to the public including major shows in GTA.  Our suppliers exhibit also at The French Wine Connection tasting events organized by The Embassy of France, Economic Commission.

For the licensed customers we do organize special tasting.

Q: Who can place an order?

A: In order to place and/or receive a wine order, you must be 19 years of age or older and must present two pieces of valid government issued identification upon receipt of your order. Additionally, liquor may not be sold or supplied to a person who is, or appears to be, intoxicated. Please be advised that there are substantial penalties under the Liquor Licence Act for breach of these laws.

Q: What is the minimum quantity I can buy?
A: Unless indicated otherwise we sell by the case lot, usually 12 but sometimes 6 bottles  depending on available winery packaging.  This requirement is governed by the LCBO policy.

Q: Can I mix bottles in one case from one winery?
A: At this point in time, mixing bottles in cases is not allowed for imported wine under the private order/consignment program. However, this might change in the near future.

Q: Can I pick up the wine in person from the agent?
A: Not at this time, unfortunately. Government regulations require that wine is delivered directly to customers by the licensed agent.

Q: How do I place an order?

A: Order online, by phone, or arranged appointment. You complete the order form on-line, print it, sign it and submit to us by E-mail, regular mail, or we will make an arrangement for your order to be picked-up.

Q: How long does it take to process the order and have it delivered?
A: If the wine is in stock, you can expect delivery between three and ten business days depending on your delivery location.  Private order wines take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. Please check with us for availability.

Q: Is there a deposit required with an order?
A: Yes, LCBO regulates minimum amount of deposit. Currently deposit of 25% of  total value is required. Payment in full is required prior to the delivery of the wine.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?
A: If The Old World Wine Agency has not yet forwarded your order to the winery, you may cancel your order and receive a full refund. Once the order has been placed with the winery, your deposit will not be returned.

Q: How does The Old World Wine Agency store their wines prior to shipping to customer like me?

A: We use LCBO distribution, forwarding, and warehousing system. Our wine is stored in the LCBO Toronto warehouse.

Q: Is there a refund policy for damaged bottles in shipment?
A: If the damaged occurred during shipment we will refund the full cost of the product.

Q: How can I pay for my wine?
